Fun Stuff

The Week Before

This is not a drill people. In one week from today, Celebrity Spin Doctor will be hitting online stores everywhere!

Ok, that’s all I wanted to share. Thanks, bye!

P.S. Well there is one more thing. If you want to celebrate with me next Thursday, stop by your social media platform of choice (Facebook or Instagram. I’m not a Twitter person) between 6-8pm EDT. I’ll be having a Facebook party, which you can RSVP for on my author page, and I will be posting stories and pics on Instagram. Frankie will probably make an appearance. Sorcha will not. I asked her and she said she has a very important nap planned that night.

Hope you can make it!

The Latest News

After the excitement of last Friday’s pre-order launch/cover reveal, things have settled down and I haven’t posted as much. During the week I have to make a choice whether to post or to work on my current book writing project. Since I’m general uncomfortable marketing myself and try to write daily to maintain my sanity, I tend to opt for the current project. Which, conveniently, is the sequel to Celebrity Spin Doctor. So my head is very much in the same world, just with different characters and another absurd plot.

Luckily I have some fabulous friends and family who are promoting my book every chance they get. Right now my sister Tara is doing a giveaway on her Facebook. All you have to do is comment on her post (which I’ve linked to) telling her what the last book you loved was and she’ll pre-order you a copy!

You might be asking, what’s the big rush to pre-order when the book doesn’t even come out until September 20th? Well I’m trying to get this book into print and in order to do that, I’ve got to sell 150 copies of the e-book. Once it’s in print, I can send out signed copies, get it into libraries, and fulfill the dream of seeing my name on a book on my bookcase.

Well that’s my sell for the day. If you do decide to buy it, don’t forget to tell me so I can enter you into my giveaway!

Book Release Details

For those of you who like to know what’s going on, here’s the skinny on my book release:

This Friday, August 17th, my publisher, Inkspell Publishing, is going to reveal my book cover! I will be sharing it on this blog and all over my social media.

Also on Friday I will be posting links to pre-order the book! Pre-order is available through Amazon (Kindle), Barnes and Noble (Nook), and Kobo.

ALSO on Friday, I will announce my pre-order giveaway! The giveaway works like this: if you order the book, email or message me a copy of your order confirmation/receipt. I will enter you into the drawing, which will take place on September 20th (aka book release day).

One Week…

No I’m not talking about the Barenaked Ladies song (although that is the best). I’m talking about the cover reveal of my first book, Celebrity Spin Doctor, being one week away!!! That’s Friday, August 17th!!

(Head’s up, there will be excessive exclamation marks throughout this post and probably most of what I post throughout the next week. I regret nothing.)

Not only will you be able to see the cover that I’ve been keeping secret for these past few months, you’ll also be able to, if you’re so inclined, pre-order the book!!

Where do you go to pre-order? Well don’t you worry. I’ll be sharing the links for Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Kobo EVERYWHERE.

I’ll also be doing a fun, themed giveaway, open to anyone who pre-orders the book.

(Think I mentioned pre-order enough?)

Book News: Celebrity Spin Doctor

Yes, it is true – my first novel comes out this September! I keep assuming it’s some fever dream that I’ll wake up from. But now that I have the ebook copy actually in my inbox, it seems like it may be real.

When is this paragon of English literature coming to an online bookseller near you? Well get ready because here are some important dates to remember:

August 17th: Cover reveal & pre-order available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

September 3rd: The book will be up on NetGalley. If you are a reviewer/librarian/bookseller and want to get an early copy (also want to help me out by reviewing it ;), head over there and request an ARC.

September 20th: RELEASE DAY!!!

Some things that will be happening on release day:

  • frequent blogging by me
  • a Facebook live event on my author page (Celia Mulder)
  • SO many Instagram posts
  • and if you’re local to me, a party at my house!

I’m not saying that you have to get my book… but all the cool kids are doing it…

Now that I’m a Librarian…

I will be posting lots of book recommendations. There’s just something about working at the library that compels you to tell everyone about what you’re reading. For this post I happen to have a podcast to share of summer book recommendations that I made with the other Popular Materials librarians. We had fun making it, which hopefully means it’s also fun to listen to!

(I don’t know as I have made it a point to never listen to myself on audio recordings.)

A Nerd Nite Performance

I have been playing the catch-up game for a little while now. Catching up with old friends, catching up on my writing, catching up on my blog. If you want to see more of what I’ve been up to while I wasn’t blogging, follow my Instagram: celiamulder.

One of the things I never got around to posting on here was the Nerd Nite talk I gave last winter called “Time Traveling Vikings or the Many Layered Subgenres of Romance Novels” in which I share some of the wildest, craziest books I’ve stumbled on. Lucky for us, there’s a video of my speech. Which is good as I can’t remember half of what I said. Only that in the moment it seemed like the wittiest reparte ever spoken. And I even got a “contains explicit content” warning for my video because, let’s face it, some of these books are not work appropriate. I’m saying that and I work in a library. Because no we don’t carry any Chuck Tingle.

Intrigued? Check it out.

RT 2018

RT 2018 starts tomorrow, can you believe it? I know I can’t and I’m going to be there! Heading to Reno for five days of romance reading, writing, and yes, fangirling.

And the thing I’m most excited about is buying my paperback copies of Scarlett Kol’s books!

RT Vegas Top Ten

In what is now a tradition, here are my top ten moments from this year’s RT Convention!

  1. Meeting up with friends from last year and making new friends. This isn’t a moment, this was the whole five days. I loved seeing my posse again and adding some new members. We’re taking on the world, one romance novel at a time.
  2. Pitching. I pitched my book this time and it was great! Nerve wracking, very scary, and more than a little overwhelming, but great.
  3. Meeting Julia Quinn. A lot! Julia Quinn is on my list of authors to meet during my lifetime and I met her!
  4. The Help! Crazysauce Broke the Interwebz… panel. If I am ever in the middle of a media blitz, these are the ladies I want handling it.
  5. The Smart Bitches Trashy Books reader recommendations party. Basically we went around and recommended books to each other. There’s nothing I love more than hearing someone talk about a book they love. I came away with pages and pages of new books to track down and read.
  6. Lady Jane’s Salon. The above times a thousand because this was authors reading from their books. Nothing makes me want to read a book more than hearing the author of said book talk about it. This particular event led to #7…
  7. Receiving an advanced copy of J. Kenner’s Dirtiest Little Secret. I told her I’d heard her at the salon and desperately needed to read the book she shared so she gave me a copy!
  8. Jennifer Armentrout, who no doubt met hundred of people in those few days, remembered me from one of her panels. Did I feel special? Absolutely.
  9. The romantic comedy panel. Last year’s led me to Wallbanger and everything Alice Clayton. After this year’s I need to read everything by Christina Lauren. It’s on.
  10. Making new friends everywhere. I made a friend while waiting to pitch who I hope to see at Spring Fling in Chicago. I made friends in every line I stood in and waiting for my plane at the airport. Everyone at the convention loves books so we always have something in common.

There are more and the minute I post this I know I’ll think of them. I miss RT already and am looking forward to Atlanta 2017!

Now You Can’t Stop Thinking About It

Happy Halloween!

Courtesy of my friend, I have this tidbit for you – How can a vampire get a boner when they don’t have any blood flow?

I’m not talking Buffy vamps here – they bleed still. But what about vamps who’s veins freeze when they die? (We all know what I’m talking about, right?) They clearly cannot get it on, given the rules of their own fantasy world.

Think about this, paranormal writers, if you want your characters to consummate their eternal love, don’t give them frozen parts. Or buy them a penis pump.
